About Album

Dead To Me - Girls Names. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Dead to Me is the debut album by Northern Irish band Girls Names. It was released on 25 April 2011 by Tough Love in Europe and Slumberland Records in the USA. The songs on Dead to Me were recorded and ready to put out by October 2010 but the band had to wait until the following April for the album's release. Lead singer Cathal Cully claims this was the reason for the album's title, stating that, in the intervening time, the band had grown tired of the songs and was experimenting with a different sound. That's not to say youll spend the entirety of their debut album, Dead to Me, playing spot the influence or wishing you were listening to one of the bands they are inspired by. The songs and performances are strong enough, melodic enough, and fun enough that you can enjoy the album for what it is: 30 minutes of noisy, hooky pop that sounds better every time you listen to it. Given that the album is called Dead to Me, you'd be forgiven for thinking that you were entering into a bleak record of dissonant, droney punk dirges. But after a few seconds, the noise dissipates to make way for a slippery riff that leads into an effortlessly catchy, sun-kissed pop tune. With many of Cully's lyrics being tinted with regret, it becomes clear that the ghosts that float throughout Dead to Me represent old lovers cast in the breeze, that the album is actually a break-up record disguised as a concept album about ghosts disguised as the go-to album for indie-loving surfers

There are many great songs with a girl's or woman's name in the song title. From the advent of popular music, crooners, rockers, rappers and country music stars have used a girl's name in their songs. Many of the biggest bands in music history have done this. Several of The Beatles biggest songs have used a girl's name in its title. Eleanor Rigby, Dear Prudence and Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds are three examples of Beatles songs that contain a girl's name. The New Life. United Kingdom. All songs by Girls Names. 100 names. Her sultry, powerful voice, her incredible legs, her time-tested beauty and her unforgettable story all contribute to her legendary status. Naming a song after a woman has, over the years, become the biggest music cliché ever however, theres been a ton of great ones, and is thereby prime fodder for music lists. So, heres the rules: 1 The song has to have a females name in the title, but not necessarily be about a female. When it says only 300 red vinyl, does that mean there was only 300 LP's made and all of them are red? Or there are 300 red one's and there are regular standard black ?

7/10: Ever since The Smiths brought a swagger to the business of morbidity, many, many bands have tried to replicate the perverse pop that Morrissey, Marr and co mastered. Belfast trio Girls Names have a go here, and fare far better than most. Forget their poor punctuation: this debut LP is awash with bittersweet romance and deadpan derision, the latter neatly encapsulated by the title. ‘Lawrence’ and ‘Séance On A Wet Afternoon’ deliver a woozy take on ’60s garage rock similar to that of Crystal Stilts, but with an oddly gothic surf twist, while Cathal Cully’s vocal on ‘Nothing More To Say’ just oozes sardonic charm. As Mozzer once put it: viva hate.
