Anyone know of any DnB producers who make similar stuff to the T'Raenon track, experimental downtempo dnb, perfect for bar gigs???

Vikus
The re-mastered versions of this epic gem are the worst re-masters I've ever heard. Whoever did this should look for another job.

Tekasa
For me it was always about "Kanei". Easily sits alongside the top quality "Likemind" catalogue of releases. A beautiful piece of work. If you know Likemind you'll know what I'm talking about =)

Saberblade
Just found a new musical obsession thanks to this comment......

JOGETIME
i dont care about the cover as long as the pressing is properly made. thank you for the reissue mr Op-Art.

Sharpbringer
Agree the pressing is superb - the OG cover would have been a nice value add to this essential document.Peace

Jairani
Essential repress. Thanks to Kirk Degiorgio for this. But as mentioned; sadly not with cover. Thats a real shame....But the vinyl press is great...

Lyrtois
Would like to know who is responsible for the worst remasters I ever heard.

Grari
Try to play the vinyl instead of the mp3 ;)

Mavivasa
have played the vinyl reissue on a proper soundsystem, sounded great.

Manazar
Must to have reissue of one of the most famous Photek tracks from the 90's...but where's the cover? shame - re-release is without original art-work.

Buzalas
Just heard that incoming May 22nd 2017 repress!!!!! Remastered too

T.Raenon (version) was and still is a masterclass in experimental sound production from the genius that is Rupert Parkes.I bought this back in the day and played the A side and thought this is sublime drum and bass track, flip to the other side and was blown away by the sheer beauty of the soundscape. If I had to describe in a few words then I'll sum up with intelligent, emotive, and futuristic.

Kezan
I own the original of this gem. Beautiful tune indeed.

Flarik

Chankane
Did you listen to the re-mastered versions? It's a shame what has been done to this classic beauty...

Gravelblade
Wow - this track is so beautiful. Because of its wonderful arrangement and structure its sounds really well spaced with each element able to really shine. The pads are gorgeous, the the hi hats and cymbals are held back whilst being really delicate and precise; the drum break is chopped so nicely, into beautiful little pieces and then expertly arranged into something intricate and hypnotic. The bass is also deep and booming, whilst also restrained and thoughtful. A true masterpiece from Rupert Parks, however its criminally overlooked when people talk about his body of work under his many aliases. Classic mid nineties atmospheric bliss, with house/downtempo beauties on side 2 making this a true gem of a piece to collect.

Yellow Judge
Such a fantastic banger. T-Raenon especially, perfect for an easy comedown.

Runeshaper
Absolutely stunning quality of sound, really ahead of its time!

Anarahuginn
Photek puts on a masterful exhibition of style and substance in a single 12", this one has something for everyone.

Inabel
Pretty much the tune that got me into dnb and pretty much my favourite jungle track of all time. Jazzy and "intelligent" with out resorting to cheesy vocals or whale noise it builds on the ambient fender Rhodes chimes of Rings Around Saturn (whose rather clumsy use of Pharaoh Sanders', by way of Lonnie Liston Smith's, Astral Traveling riff set the template for this tune) but perfects it with a better integration of the sample and a gorgeous aquatic vibe. Like the more mature laid back big brother of the work started as Aquarius.Photek's stuff always has a slightly alien metallic quality that sets his ambient tunes apart from LTJ Bukem and has made them a good deal less dated. The tune doesn't really develop, it sets a mood and then hangs in the air like a cloud from space. Even then it feels too short as it has created such a mesmerizing atmosphere. He hasn't forgotten the bottom end either. When the huge dubby bass notes first hit your hair stands on end! The flip side dub is strikingly prescient of the post dubstep dnb of acts like Consequence and Instra:mental with it's throbbing kick drum and clicking percussion. It could fit perfectly into his recent DJ Kicks cd so this mellow side of Photek's work was always there under the surface. Last track Kanei is pleasant but is more obviously "ambient" with spacey synths, brooding bass riff (which pretty much makes it) and experiments with Techno textures. Influence on the later Bleeps Tune and the recent DJG track Here Come The Dark Lights.Awesome record.Frank @ London School of Sound

T'raenon undoubtedly makes a landmark in progression of the dnb sound. Where Applied Rhythmic Technology unraveled, OP-ART 001 lashes the two together imperviously Comming off with a strong, deep 92-94 ambient techno vibe/ With this release, Parkes acheives one of his finer moments.

Hulbine
Word! to that. This IS both soulful and intelligent. Beautiful cover and label artwork, a MUST HAVE for all elektroids. Ranks alongside Innerzone Orchestra's "Bug in the Bassbin" and LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression vol.1 as a landmark classic.Peace.

Gavigamand
t'raenon is one of the most beautiful intelligent drum n bass tunes ever, an epic ambient beginning which suddenly filters up and drops into another bout of trademark photek rhythmical wizardry. it might seem impossible to mix with at first with all ambience and no clues, but they are there if you listen carefully enough. t'raenon (version) has the same pads and atmospherics, just laid over a version style dubby beat for a good 9 minutes. very mellow. kanei is a chillout / down tempo / electro tune. nice background stuff.

Akisame
T'Raenon truly is a landmark for what we know as "dub techno" today. The ambience is so finely tuned to a particular taste that it gives me chills of a futuristic landscape. This track is nearly 20 years old, and in my opinion still ahead of its time.
