In addition to the newly remastered 13-track album. No Need to Argue is the second studio album by The Cranberries and was released on October 3, 1994. The album took on a more anger and harder approach compared to there prior release Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Cant We It is also the bands best selling album, and has sold 17 million copies worldwide No Need to Argue Q&A. Everybody wasn't a laugh riot, to be sure, but No Need to Argue starts to see O'Riordan take a more commanding and self-conscious role that ended up not standing the band in good stead later. Lead single Zombie is the offender in this regard - the heavy rock trudge isn't immediately suited for the band's strengths notably, O'Riordan wrote this without Noel Hogan - while the subject matter the continuing Northern Ireland tensions ends up sounding trivialized. This review of No Need to Argue originally appeared in the November 1994 issue of SPIN. In celebration of the albums 25th anniversary on October 3, we are republishing it now. My copy sounds great. Very little surface noise. I clean my records before they go on the platter. Beautiful color.

Twentyfirstfinger
OMG !!!! so bad pressing . this record is one big pup and click. both sides !!!!. i clean this twice in professional cleaning machine . no change. I get this vinyl because Jasiek88 review. no way CD in this case sounds much better !!!!!.

VizoRRR
Has anyone else got this? The crackle in the background across the entire LP is awful? Anyone else feel the same??

Dilmal
Utter CRAP!!! POS low-quality re-issue!!!! I will never buy a Plain Recordings product again!!!!!

Doomredeemer
The Plain reissues are great, What turntable/received/Speakers you have listen your copy? because in my rega P3 with Yamaha A-S201 Received and Sony Floor-Standing speakers the sound is awesome, deep bass, separate instruments, no clicks or pops. People that keep saying that the Plain record reissue is a crap either lie or didn't have this version of the record.I have the OG version and the different between both is minimal.

Otiel
Analog Spark needs to do this one too, though with so many recently put out by Plain it looks unlikely.

This is translucent yellow vinyl but the sticker calls it gold.

SiIеnt
Probably most beautiful vinyl in my collection. two more words or maybe twenty

I always take these pressings with a grain of salt and hold my breath. I was surprised this was the Blue Limited Vinyl, there was no indication on the VMP Store about it when I purchased it. Surprisingly good pressing :)

Question: what indicates this release has in fact been remastered?

Anen
Good question! The copy I had indicated it had been remastered via a tiny sticker on the front corner of the jewel case. No mention of who or how it was remastered inside the booklet. To my ears the original cd sounds much warmer, this edition sounds like someone has just turned up the treble a bit! Not what I'd call a good remaster in any case. Hopefully this album will get the treatment it deserves like the debut is getting at the moment. Amazing 2nd album full of emotion.

Ballalune
Got this one and the black standard version. My copy is really nice, no surface noise, no pops, no clicks which are present on my Plain Recordings black standard copy. The sound is very dynamic to me and bass are really present (Just listen to No Need To Argue beginning and you'll see !). It's a 180g vinyl too and the white color suits very well with the design of the record. Really happy with it ! I wanted to keep the black limited sticker but impossible to remove it from the plastic but kept it anyway ! :)

Xcorn
My pressing doesn’t have much in the way of surface noise but it was cut a bit too hot as there is some distortion in Dolores’ voice at times. It’s far from a great sounding reissue but until a better one comes along (maybe Analog Spark can take a crack at it like they did the first album), this one will do. Also doesn’t hurt that I only spent $13 on it.

Frosha
This is an urban outfitters exclusive on gold vinyl. Are we sure it's a Plain Recordings reissue? I saw this in store today and saw no mention of Plain Recordings or their logo on the album cover. Also the catalog number is linked to Plain Records not Plain Recordings which are two different companies. There has to be some misinfo here. If anyone can clarify it would be appreciated, thnx.

Steep
Good catch and I guess I missed the original incorrect listing here. It is definitely a Plain Recordings reissue.

GODMAX
Thanks, must have missed it, looks like someone fixed the label link at the top to reflect correctly. Also looks like the matrix numbers clearly show Plain as the manufacturer.

Shadowredeemer
I just purchased this. The back of the jacket does show "plain recordings".

fabscf
as today, may 29 2018, this is the ELEVENTH repress of the album. keep on flooding the market with your so-called "limited editions", Plain Recordings!

SadLendy
This record pressing company has a terrible reputation among vinyl enthusiasts.. Apparently they churn out very low quality pressings. Do a web search and find multiple reviews stating the lack of detail which such pressings are done.

????????????????????????
Never ceases to amaze me how many people are critical of this release without ever having physically held, let alone played, an actual copy....Opened my copy to find the vinyl very clean and with very good sound.

Faebei
I picked this up at a local record store, stoked to listen to it, and hate to say it...it just doesn't sound great on my hi-fi system. Most of these albums from the mid-90s don't translate well to vinyl, and this one is no different. I'm happy to have it in my collection though, but have lowered audio expectations when listening to it.

Grotilar
Dude, this is from the notorious plain recordings, u can do a little read up on discogs and you will get the idea.

Uthergo
Any news on this pressing? I pre-ordered mine on Amazon weeks before the release, but now it says it's temporary out of stock.

Zolorn
Interestingly enough, the Amazon seller is actually Runtshop who is a seller on Discogs as well and looks to have several copies of this green limited edition available. I will say that his shipping is impeccable, custom carrier and the album arrived unscathed.

Sennnel
I did the same with the same result. Pre-ordered in mid January and was expecting it to arrive on 2/16. Checked and it said "temporarily out of stock". I complained to Amazon and they let me order from a 3rd party through Amazon for a higher price ($40) and they refunded the difference between the Prime price and the 3rd party price. They also gave me a $10 courtesy credit in my Amazon account. It was a pain in the neck, but the album just arrived today and looks great!

Tam
I've only recently read the general issues with Plain Recordings releases, and I actually have no complaints about my copy at all. I have a number of new records that I do take issue with quality on, but to my ears and on my system this one sounds quite good. It is a little bit nonsense that there are several "LIMITED EDITION" versions of this only separated by color, but I simply can't find fault with my particular pressing. It's an excellent album, and the sound quality is good.

Billy Granson
This version was noisy but the quality of recording is fine. The vinyl have to be cleaned from new, after the sound will be a lot better.

ChallengeMine
I bunked off school to go and get this in Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street in 1994 and it has been played at least once every 6 weeks since then. It sounds as good as it did 23 years ago. A really good UK pressing from a time when cds had (unfortunately) taken over. Worth every penny to get an original i'd say; the sound is fantastic on it and the sleeve and inner are lovely matt paper, not too thick and not too thin-just right. If you hold this band close to your heart and can afford it, go for an original.

Natety
Seriously, folks. When are you going to learn that you're wasting your money buying Plain Recordings reissues? You'd be better served just spending a small fraction of the price and buying a used copy on CD. Stop buying their crap pressings so that they'll either raise the level of their product or just go away altogether.

Bearus
Yep yep yep. Analog Spark needs to do this one. Just got their release of the first album and it’s superb!!!

Yojin
I would really like this album on Vinyl but, with such mixed reviews, mostly not positive I guess I'll wait till someone presses it correctly. Suggestions anyone? And how many times does Plain Recordings have to release No Need to Argue? Instead of releasing it in different colors, how about pressing right?

Yadon
Диск кривой, волнами. Вторая сторона проигрывается с перескоками. Ужасное переиздание.

Lli
Just a recap on my take of this release, I got my replacement a few weeks after sending the other back and it plays fairly well, I'm sure it's just a transfer from a CD or digital file but it doesn't sound bad to me, very like a pressing from GZ media in Europe or united in the US. Not going to set the world alight but pleasant if your lucky to get a good pressing, and unless the original comes down in price or a decent reissue is made it will do nicely. I'd listen to this any day over my weak lifeless united pressed / sterling mastered copy of Adele 21, that is the bench mark for modern pressed utter garbage..

Prinna
Picked up a copy today and no problems with it. A nice gatefold (both sides open up) and no problems with the vinyl either. I was worried that it would be one of those half-volume reissues that are popular but nope, this is was full bodied. Her vocals seem less retrained to me.

Ielonere
Sounded like a CD rip to me so I returned it to the merchant...sleeve is not gatefold and is printed poorly...

Balladolbine
Of the debut album Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We of this group in our country only 5000 copies were sold. However, this album was very successful worldwide. On this new cd, to which before the release had many question was, 13 pop songs, all of which were written by singer Dolores O'Riordan. In terms of both music and voice the group shows many similarities with Sinead O'Connor. The album received a good review in music magazine OOR.

Villo
I spotted this in LP form at a local store the other day and was excited to see it being finally released on vinyl. Leave it to Discogs to warn and disappoint, as this is credited to Plain Recordings. Some years ago I fell for their edition of a Primus album that sounds like absolute crap and for what it's evident this seems to be a consistent story with all of their reissues. Too bad I'd have to pass on this one - if I'm paying top coin for new vinyl I expect the quality of pressing and sonics to be on par with the cost. Otherwise it's just a "plain" rip-off (pun intended).

Vit
Not a fantastic pressing. Very noisy. More of a collector's item than for proper listening. Also skips occasionally.

Burking
Apparently the best version actually. Some crackle between songs... the sound is very good l....not really a bad pressing ...But But for me its better than my original cd...I wait and i Hope a true good remastered Lp for this album.I usually notice that the US pressings are worse than in Europe dry, in sound but also in the LP itself. I often drives US wrapped ..Afeter research online, it appears that the factory in the US are pretty old...

Marelyne
I hope theres a repress for there othere album everybody else is doing it so why cant we i hppe it gets pressed on a colored vinyl

nadness
Plain Recordings are essentially a BOOTLEG factory who have ZERO authorization from the artists to reproduce their recordings. They are notorious for using highly-distorted CD sources for their awful vinyl reissues. If you seen the name 'PLAIN' on a repress, you should AVOID at all costs. It baffles me how this horrid record label is still in business, re-releasing beloved albums that sound like absolute shit. Spread the word about this atrocity of the vinyl resurgence and help the crusade to put them out of business forever.

Marige
The Cranberries' official facebook page announces these releases. I take that as at least some indication that they authorized it.

greed style
I used to have the Mexico 1994 Cassette of this Album and I remember the song "Empty" was listed on the track list but it was not on the cassette, I dont have the item anymore and I do not see it on the list of versions.

Vetalol
Cranberry colored LP of this comes out in September 2016. Plain is again in charge of the pressing however.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YWBO3OM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Nnulam
Ohhh dear, wish I'd seen these reviews before I'd purchased my copy, it arrived and I unwrapped it to find side 1 looking like it had been booted across the floor of the pressing plant, I cleaned it up with my record machine but both sides are very noisy, as others have said between tracks and in quite parts, ruins songs like dreaming my dreams.. Clicks and pops I can put up with, specially on older vinyl as to me they are part of the charm of the format, but can't stick the thuds, warbles and repetitive crackles which you often seem to find on new pressings like this, it's like grinding sand between your teeth.. That all said, the album does have a great sound amongst all this, I like the mastering, shame it's ruined by such a crap pressing. We could do with compiling a list of pressing plants best to avoid, as so many seem to produce poor products at the moment, I try to stick to original releases if available and not for silly money. I've foolishly sent my copy back to the retailer but it sounds as though I'm likely to get one back just the same or even worse..

Roru
I bought mine from my local record store and when I opened it, it was a bit dirty, but after a clean it plays really well and sounds good too. It had a few hairline scratches but overall I thought it sounded really good for the price I payed.

Arador
okok so i think i got really lucky or they fixed this pressing cause i just got mine now knowing what i was going in for, and let me say it sounds fantastic!! i mean i know plain is specialized in making the most horrifying pressings out there and i own multiple plain pressings which all suck equally but again wow, i was amazed when i played my copy, little noise( only hearable if you crack the volume all the way up) and the only complain about this is the distortion on some tracks Dolores voice is sometimes painful in this pressing... but the rest is all good

anytime i see that sticker - i avoid like the plague because that means its a plain recordings pos

Zinnthi
I forked out the money and bought it ! Worth every penny !The newer re-issue I read is awful.

Early Waffle
I hear only bad things about the vinyl pressings of the Plain-Label, it's so noisy : - (((

Garr
Yep. Pretty noisy pressing. 2nd side is a lot worse than the first.

Nikok
I can`t find this re-issue anywhere!Have anyone bought it? Where? How does it sound? Please enlighten me!

Thetahuginn
this is so expensive because they only pressed up a few or what? makes no sense for such and album that sold billions of copies.

Erienan
nobody bought records back then....it was the dark days of vinyl

Wilalmaine
Very few were pressed and even fewer bought. It was a CD era back then !Only Greece and UK got it.

Ann
Same for me - pressing is awful, like you bought some used EX vinyl. I still like it for this price, but be prepare - background noice in pauses/low places and even few crackles (my vinyl even have some fabrique scratchy damage). Cant beleive its official LP, so bad.

lifestyle
My copy isnt as noisy as you guys describe. You got to remember that a lot of new vinyl builds up static while being packaged. I always run my records on the nitty gritty before playing to get rid of the static. Make sure your not hearing static buildup. If your not able to afford and wet vacuum cleaner they make those anti static guns too! : )

Nto
The quality of my copy is just horrible: a lot of noise in between and during the songs, on both sides. I just learned about Plain Records' reputation on the web and this seems to confirm what I've read... Shame...

Kagda
A lot of noise between tracks means it's a low quality pressing. I'm guessing there is noise on quiet parts of the lp too. I noticed each side is about 25 minutes, very unusual for vinyl, which may account for the noise.

Thorgahuginn
This pressing was a positive surprise. It sounds great for a 90s album and they did a good job on the gatefold. The only con is that it has a lot of noise between the tracks although I cleaned it twice on a Clearaudio Smart Matrix. There are some white stains caused by the paper inner sleeve. Never the less - I can recommend it! I send a mail to Universal Music. They confirmed that it is an official pressing.

Lanionge
How is the sound on this pressing?

Rishason
I was curious on how it would compare to the first pressing. Also just to have a backup copy.

Dolid
just out of curiosity, what was your reason for purchasing the reissue when you already had the greek pressing? Thanks!

uspeh
Sounds good to me.

GAZANIK
Thanks for your opinion!

Gtonydne
I have the original greek pressing. Comparing the two, this reissue is definitely louder. The mastering is (must more compressed, bass heavy) The greek pressing is must more natural sounding. guitars and drums have a nice mid range detail to them. Dolores's voice is well centered and her voice sounds like she right in the room with you. Sounds great, again just my opinion i felt the mastering was over-limited and loses some of its dynamic's. If your just getting into the cranberries and vinyl. You just might enjoy this pressing.

Frdi
Hello I only see the double 2LP version for €45, where did you see the $25 version?

Malojurus
This album is being reissued on vinyl in July of 2015. It will be priced around $25 retail.

Castiel
Thanks for the info! I was on the way on making a expensive purchase..

Jonariara
This is wonderful, I spent a lot for 'Everybody Else...' and haven't bought the bullet on these original's prices.
